PIANO COMPETITION

The FIPMA'25 Piano Competition is open to all active festival participants and consists of four age categories:

• A) 18 years and older.
• B) up to 17 years inclusive on July 22, 2025.
• C) up to 13 years inclusive on July 22, 2025.
• D) up to 10 years inclusive on July 22, 2025.

Participants must register in the corresponding category based on age, and in exceptional cases, they may request participation in a higher category.

Students wishing to participate in the competition must pay a non-refundable fee of 30 euros, in addition to the booking fee for a spot.

The competition consists of a semifinal and a final where participants can perform a free repertoire. The repertoire performed in the semifinal will be different from that in the final. The time limit for each participant in each category will be:

• A) 10 minutes semifinal / 20 minutes final
• B) 8 minutes semifinal / 16 minutes final
• C) 4 minutes semifinal / 8 minutes final
• D) 2 minutes semifinal / 4 minutes final

The semifinal will be on July 23, and the final on July 25. The jury will decide the contestants advancing to the final, with a maximum of three finalists per category. The jury may limit the established timing for each category for organizational reasons.

Third, second, or first prizes will be awarded as deemed appropriate by the jury. All winners will receive a certificate sent via email. Only the Absolute First Prize winner in each category (the contestant with the highest score) will receive a cash prize.

Prizes:

• 1st Absolute Prize Category A - 1000 euros and certificate
• 1st Absolute Prize Category B - 500 euros and certificate
• 1st Absolute Prize Category C - 250 euros and certificate
• 1st Absolute Prize Category D - 125 euros and certificate

Additionally, the jury will grant four Special Prizes to performers from Malaga, sponsored by the Musical Foundation of Malaga, each endowed with 250 euros. The scope of the Musical Foundation of Malaga is primarily the City of Malaga, exceptionally extendable to its province.

 Applicants wishing to compete for this prize must meet one of the following requirements:

• Born in Malaga or its province.
•  Currently enrolled, or have studied, music at a music school or conservatory in Malaga and its province, verified by ID or a certificate from the institution.

This year, the jury will also award a special prize sponsored by Tune 440, providing tuning and adjustment of the selected student's piano among Malaga participants residing in Malaga city or adjacent areas.
