Since the beginning of his career, Spanish pianist Juan Lago has been awarded in the most prestigious national competitions and has recently been honored at the XXIII Concorso Internazionale “Valsesia-Musica” in Varallo (Italy), the XX International Piano Competition “Cidade de Ferrol,” the IX Premio Internazionale Pianistico “A. Scriabin” in Grosseto (Italy), and the VI International Competition “Compositores de España” in Las Rozas, Madrid. As a result, Juan Lago embarked on his first tour of European countries and made his first CD recording for “Radio Clásica” of Radio Nacional de España featuring sonatas by Beethoven, Scriabin, and Bartók. Juan Lago has performed in Portugal, Italy, France, Switzerland, Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium, Russia, Latvia, Turkey, the United States, China, South Korea, and major Spanish cities in recitals, chamber music, or as a soloist with conductors such as Ovidiu Balan, Emin Güven Yasliçam, José Ramón Encinar, Ernest Martínez Izquierdo, Joachim Jousse, Juan Luis Martínez, and Francisco de Gálvez, among others, as well as with the Orchestra Sinfonica Siciliana (Italy), “Mihail Jora” Philharmonic Orchestra of Bacau (Romania), Çukurova State Symphony Orchestra (Turkey), Istanbul Chamber Orchestra (Turkey), Orquesta de la Comunidad de Madrid, Orquesta de Córdoba, Orquesta de Valencia, and Sinfónica de Málaga. In recent seasons, Juan Lago has performed and given masterclasses at the Washington International Piano Festival in Washington DC (USA), the Mediterranean Festival at the Palau de les Arts in Valencia conducted by Zubin Mehta, Talent Music Summer Courses in Brescia (Italy), Hochschule für Musik und Tanz in Cologne (Germany), Musical Krasnogorsk (Moscow, Russia), Schubertiaden Schnackenburg (Germany), Vila-seca Festival, Alion Baltic Festival (Riga, Latvia), and Semaine Internationale Piano et musique de chambre (Blonay, Switzerland). Chamber music plays a significant role in Juan Lago's musical activities, having collaborated with violinists Vasco Vassilev, Alissa Margulis, and Santiago Juan, violist Santiago Cantó, cellists Alexander Buzlov and Iván Balaguer, and pianist Belén Navarro.
